Restore and improve your smile with tooth coloured restorations
Tooth colour restoration is a procedure in which a tooth-coloured resin material (a durable plastic material) is applied and hardened with a special light, which ultimately “bonds” the material to the tooth to restore or improve person’s smile.
Tooth coloured restorations using CEREC
Once your dentist determines that CEREC is the correct course of treatment, your visit will begin by preparing the tooth. Any decay, if present, is removed, leaving as much as possible of your healthy. Next, your dentist will use a specially designed electronic camera that makes a digital 3D model of your tooth in seconds. CEREC restorations look and feel better than amalgam and gold and can be completed in a single appointment.
Tooth coloured restorations the traditional way
If CEREC treatment is either not suitable or unnecessary, we will apply tooth coloured restorations the traditional way. Your tooth is prepared by removing any decay from the tooth, and then the composite resin restoration is colour-matched to your teeth before being placed. When it is placed, it will be hardened with a special blue light.
Tooth coloured restorations last between 4 to 7 years depending on how well you take care of your oral health. In some extreme cases, fillings have been known to last as long as 10 years.
A tooth coloured restoration refers to a procedure in which a tooth-coloured resin is applied to the teeth before it is hardened with a special light. The resin, which is a durable plastic material, bonds to the surface of the teeth and helps to restore and enhance the appearance of one’s smile.
CEREC is a special device that allows us to create a customised restoration at our practice, without the need for a laboratory or multiple appointments. If CEREC is the best treatment option for you, your tooth will first be prepared and any decay will be removed. An electronic camera will then be used to make a digital 3D image of your tooth. The restoration is designed to look and feel natural, and can be completed in just one appointment.
First, your tooth will be prepared and any decay will be removed. Next, the composite resin restoration is colour-matched to suit your teeth before it is placed. Once the composite resin has been placed on the teeth, it is light-cured with an ultraviolet light.
